Skin care is important. Much of the industry has become insanely chemical heavy. You'd think that would mean they've found ways to improve our skin care. From my own experience with skincare, it has not.

Now I'm not going to bore you with an entire skincare journey, but I will say that I have very sensitive, and often times itchy skin. On my face, and scalp, especially. Hair/scalp care is another journey I'll get into later.

I heard about beef tallow being used as a natural type of skincare on Instagram, where I follow some homestead accounts. At first I figured it was just another gimmick, since most skincare has left me disappointed. Skin is still itchy, and oily, no matter what the containers says it will do to help with those things.

Decided to just give this a try. I mean why not? No expectations, just like with anything else I've tried.

The first type of tallow balm I chose was a non-scented and non-whipped type. Nothing in it but the refined tallow balm. It was not soft, and it felt more like Vaseline, than anything else. I did not mind, and gave it a try. After a week or so, I did notice that it sunk into my skin more than other things I've used. The itchiness was not gone, but it was definitely not as bad. My oily areas weren't any worse or better, but the dry areas were comfortable. Overall the Vaseline type was not a major disappointment, but it wasn't the perfect solution for my skin.

Feeling like I was on to something, I did decide to try a whipped tallow balm. Most of these contain honey, which worried me because of how my skin reacted to other honey based treatments (which was not good, I broke out in pretty bad acne), but I really wanted to try it anyway. I bought the one in the image above. After trying it just a couple of days, I absolutely fell in love with this type of balm. My skin had NEVER felt so good. The itchiness was almost gone, the oily spots were so much less oily, and I didn't break out! The scent of this particular balm was also incredibly light and pleasant.

This particular brand is unavailable right now, but there are tons of other brands doing the same type of balm, and I'm sure there's another one out there that will work just as well. I do plan to try another brand once I'm out of this one. It did turn out that this brand had some false advertising, with the American flag in the photo, while being made in china. Honestly I don't care THAT much about that. If it works for my skin I don't mind where it comes from. I would prefer an American brand, but this didn't enrage me to learn.

A co-worker of mine has very delicate skin, that is very dry. She takes medication that really does a number on her skin. I told her about this and she went ahead and gave it a try, and she also just loved it. She loved it so much she might be the one that ran them out of stock! The only question she had for me is what I will get into now...

Many people seem to turn away from trying this due to a fear of it being 'STINKY'. I'm not sure I've ever smelled one that has any sort of really off-putting smell. Even the unscented one I tried the first time, that didn't have honey in it, didn't seem to have a strong or bad smell. Maybe I've been lucky, and I have not run into one that smelled bad, but I don't think this is a good reason to not try it. As long as they offer to take returns, go ahead and try this. If you open it and the smell offends you, return it, and try a different one!

In conclusion, a nice whipped tallow balm could be the answer to your skin care prayers. I'm 100% happy with mine! For me this was worth the hype.
